March 22, 2016 01:19 PM Eastern Daylight Time

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FreeLinc Technologies Inc., the world’s leader in Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) Intellectual Property and solutions, and David Clark Company, a leading manufacturer of communication headset solutions for high-noise and hazardous environments, have entered into a strategic alliance that will significantly impact the markets served by both companies.

“David Clark Company is very excited to be an early adopter of FreeLinc’s NFMI technology. Integrating NFMI to our ruggedized communication product portfolio adds a new level of safety, security and freedom for our customers”

FreeLinc Technologies’ NFMI provides David Clark with a highly secure, reliable and power efficient solution for eliminating the cords to its hearing protection and communications products – without using RF. Law enforcement and public safety officers have used FreeLinc’s NFMI-enabled radio accessories for more than a decade, and there are now over 2500 separate federal, state and local U.S. public safety agencies using FreeLinc products, including the FBI and the US Secret Service.

“David Clark Company is very excited to be an early adopter of FreeLinc’s NFMI technology. Integrating NFMI to our ruggedized communication product portfolio adds a new level of safety, security and freedom for our customers,” said Rich Urella, President of David Clark Company, Inc.

FreeLinc’s NFMI creates a low-power magnetic field around devices and uses that field to transfer voice and data. The result is a wireless ‘bubble’ around the user; devices only connect when inside the bubble, and from the outside their signals cannot be seen. NFMI is invisible to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, does not cause interference in other devices or networks, and NFMI can even be used to provide wireless communications underwater and with deeply implanted medical devices.

“By integrating NFMI across the breadth of its product lines, David Clark has demonstrated that it will continue to lead the world with communications accessories designed to meet the needs of the most demanding customers, and that they have prepared for the arrival of the Internet of Things in each of its market segments,” said Dr. Michael Abrams, CEO of FreeLinc Technologies.

FreeLinc Product Sales Increase 42% over 2014

February 26, 2016 01:53 PM Eastern Standard Time

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FreeLinc Technologies Inc., the world’s leader in Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) Intellectual Property and solutions, reported a 42% increase in sales over 2014. FreeLinc’s sales growth is attributed, in part, to the rejection of Bluetooth solutions by law enforcement officers. Two of their best selling products are:

  • FreeMic 200 - Designed for professionals who need to communicate without removing their radio from their duty belt and want to be cable free. By eliminating the cable, FreeLinc Technologies increases safety margins and mobility, without the security and reliability risks of Bluetooth. Efficient reuse of power provides up to 50 hours of continuous talk time on a single three-hour charge.
  • FreeMotion 100 - The communication device when discretion is required. The sleek design of the FreeMotion 100 allows the user to blend into a crowd while maintaining critical communication, without the security and reliability problems associated with Bluetooth. Efficient reuse of power provides up to 20 hours of continuous talk time on a single three-hour charge.

Almost 25,000 of these systems have been sold since 2006 to over 2,500 federal, state and local agencies, including the FBI and the Secret Service, with a growing number of departments and agencies inquiring about adopting these products every month. Because of the demand for secure, reliable and power efficient mission critical communications accessories, FreeLinc is now expanding into the commercial 2-way market, creating OEM opportunities, and developing prototypes with industry leaders in the military, healthcare and consumer markets.

“With little to no investment in sales and marketing in 2015, the revenue from FreeLinc product sales increased 42% over 2014, confirming the unmet demand for NFMI in that market. Public safety and commercial 2-way users will soon be communicating more than voice, and FreeLinc is already contributing to those solutions. FreeLinc’s NFMI is the superior solution wherever secure, reliable and power efficient wireless Personal Area Networks are needed,” said Dr. Mike Abrams, CEO of FreeLinc.

USPTO Allows FreeLinc Four More NFMI Patents

February 19, 2016 07:35 PM Eastern Standard Time

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FreeLinc Technologies Inc., the world’s leader in Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) Intellectual Property and solutions, has announced they were issued and/or allowed four additional patents protecting their NFMI technology:

“NFMI will fundamentally change the way we connect to the devices and things around us, and will soon become an essential building block for the Internet of Things”

  • US Patent No. 8,929,809 - Multi-Mode Magnetic Induction Communication (M3IC) - Hardware Diversity.
  • US Patent No. US20120220227A1 - System and method for communicating between near field communication devices within a target region.
  • US Patent No. 8,880,100 - Proximity Based Social Networking and Proximity Detection and Communication.
  • US Patent No. US20120289153A1 - Proximity Based Content - Techniques for Wireless Communication of Proximity Based Content.

These new awards further strengthen FreeLinc’s position, adding to what is already the world’s largest single portfolio of NFMI patents.

“NFMI will fundamentally change the way we connect to the devices and things around us, and will soon become an essential building block for the Internet of Things,” said Dr. Mike Abrams, FreeLinc’s CEO.

US Patent No. 8,929,809 protects FreeLinc's ability to combine NFMI and NFC on a single chipset, allowing FreeLinc to leverage the existing NFC infrastructure while simultaneously providing the advanced capabilities of NFMI.

US Patent No. US20120220227A1 protects the ability of unpowered devices to communicate with each other by passively modulating the target field. This capability is important, for example, with medical devices that may be implanted for decades at a time without batteries.

US Patent No. 8,880,100 refers to the social networking that can occur when one NFMI device enters the proximity boundary of another. This would allow adjacent soldiers to communicate in a high-noise environment, such as the back of an Armored Personnel Carrier.

US Patent No. US20120289153A1 refers to the exchange of data when one NFMI device enters the proximity boundary of another. This is the fundamental principle behind proximity based marketing using NFMI.
